Isn't adding and subtracting density sort of what a color corrector does anyways? I seem to recall mention of a film densitometer that was used in the process of calibrating the film out process. I also see X-rite probes listed as densitometers. I do think you are on to something with the color corrector as it adds a tremendous amount of "Art" weight to the already dense with "Art" offline timeline. Sapphire and Boris are certainly adding to the heavy load on tape. And by Load on Tape you know what I mean... ;-)
