I inherited the system so I didn't have a say in the OS but yes things were quirky but some of that was due to my newness to Ver. 7.
Okay today I tried both the admin and non admin user and both would ama link so that agrees with what I've learned on this thread. I think initially there was a bug with this system that perhaps logging out and back in somehow fixed.
I was able to get it to use the active bin when relinking by deselecting the checkbox "use current ama setting" and then creating a new profile. I think that even though I checked "Active Bin" it was still set to volume name so it made a new bin with the volume name at first. Once I also checked "use existing bin name" it filled my active bin.
It seemed that as long as I had the original bins from the sub folders the ama link wanted to reopen them instead of populate my new active bin. Is that possible? I did trash ama management but until I deleted the original bins of the sub folders they kept opening up when I would ama link, regardless of whether I right clicked in the bin or went to the file menu. Clearly I need to experiment more to pick up the new ama link behavior. I does seem to be easier than before with it's seeking out of sub folders etc.... Perhaps I've just no spent enough quality time with ama to feel comfortable with it. Usually the AEs handle this side of things but quite often I get called in to sort out issues. At least I can say I've ama linked and lived to tell about it.
