I did this after some issues I had installing v7.0. This was pre-Mavericks..so I don't know if anything needs to be done differently. Please back up your drive. Obviously, I can't take responsibility for your computer exploding or murdering astronauts. The procedure came directly from Avid support. I am copying it verbatim.
PLEASE DEACTIVATE YOUR SOFTWARE AND OPTIONS BEFORE PERFORMING THESE STEPS! These instructions will remove Licensing files as well as Avid License Control which could be dangerous if you have any other products installed! PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION. Below are the steps/files to remove your Editor software from the system. These should be done after running the Media Composer or Symphony Uninstaller located in the Avid_Uninstallers folder. In Lion and SnowLeopard we use the receipts database. DQSAnd you wonder WHY Avid is having such problems? This is emblematic of why it’s having the company is having the serious issues it is.I have MC 6.5 lodged in my machine as well. And when you try to get help at the Avid forums. . . Not a damn word from Avid. They’ve proven they just don’t give a damn unless you pay $300 for them to care.I am going to try one of the Uninstallers that I own and see if that does the trick.Whoever was advocating “Now is the time for AVID” has obviously not had to deal this can of worms.
