Re: [Avid-L2] Uninstall Madness

Is it really that unusual for a software to break with a new OS platform it was originally designed for?

Sorry, it's that kind of cavalier, slowness to respond that makes Avid worthy of EOL.  No disrespect to those who love cutting with it, but that's just maddening BS.

And you wonder WHY Avid is having such problems?  This is emblematic of why it's having the company is having the serious issues it is.

I have MC 6.5 lodged in my machine as well.  And when you try to get help at the Avid forums. . . Not a damn word from Avid.  They've proven they just don't give a damn unless you pay $300 for them to care.

I am going to try one of the Uninstallers that I own and see if that does the trick.

Whoever was advocating "Now is the time for AVID" has obviously not had to deal this can of worms.  I am just about ready for Adobe, thank you very much.

Disgusted by Avid,

I had a similar problem on 2 of our systems - they had been updated over and over again, probably starting somewhere around OSx 10.5.8, and one of the machines was a (partial) clone of the other - so I took it as an opportunity to rebuild them 'from scratch' and did a clean OS install, which solved the problem.

MAJOR PITA, in your case, probably, but that is what worked for me.

I'm having a horrific time trying to do something that should very simple. I'm trying to uninstall MC 7.0.0 so that I can then install 7.0.3. I'm on a 17" MBP running OS 10.9.2.

The Uninstaller in the 7.0.0 applications folder stops when it supposed to start with a message saying, "An error in the Preuninstall task cancelled the uninstall". I tried unchecking each one of the .pkg's to see if one of them was causing the burp, but no, no relief. Same error.

Then, when I tried to use the Uninstaller that comes in the disc image you get with the new MC 7.0.3 download, I get a message saying that the Uninstaller is damaged and that I have to eject the entire disc image.

So basically, I can't uninstall Media Composer. Besides trying to download the 7.0.3 dmg again, is there any place to get a functional uninstaller?

Thanks,

DD
