Lou,
I'm in the same boat, and have been considering picking up one of
these:
<http://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-Pro-SR-DVM700-Mini-DV-HDD-DVD-Recorder-Video-Transfer-Device-/281092376593?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4172694811>
Of course, that precludes easy editing. But my wife and I get all
sappy just seeing the kids the way they were 20 years ago...
wouldn't want to cut out anything unless we had to show it to
someone else, and who else would want to see that stuff?? (Word
to you younger guys and gals -- spend ALL the time with your kids
you can... it really goes by fast and you'll miss 'em when
they're gone!)
At home, I've got 5.0 on a 2011 MBP, and it ingests DV fine. I've
always had trouble with TC on little consumer cams, so I always
capture without TC. But the Avid controls the camera fine -- I've
got consumer Pannys and Canons.

My question is, is anyone successfully digitizing DV tapes with current version of Avid on a MacBookPro. I have an old DVX100 that Avid does not recognize. I would buy a used sony deck like a DSR1500 or DSR 11 if I knew Avid on the laptop would control it. But I thought Id check with you guys to see if anyone has had any luck. I have not had DV tapes come into the suite for about 3 years now and not set up here to digitize either. Id rather do it at home at night but MBP may not cut it.
