If you are looking for something more stable than hard drives, many folks on
the list are using LTO. Check out http://www.cache-a.com/. They have
several tiers of products that can be used in a stand-alone configuration or
with an asset management solution like CatDV. They have just announced
support for LTO6 which has a capacity of 2.5TB and a shelf life of 30 years.
Hit me offline if you want some more info.

Subject: [Avid-L2] what are yall using to archive
Hi
Over the past few years we have changed from mostly tape to mostly digital
shooting. As a consequence the way we used to archive old projects doesn't
work.
Sometimes I will end up with 1 or 2 usb drives with all the footage from a
shoot...theres a big pile of them building up in one of the Avid suites.
Frankly, I don't put a lot of faith in the longevity of these little drives.
I'm thinking of getting a large raid server that can just hold all the stuff
(till it gets full then we'll have another talk about longer term archival)
What are you using to archive old footage that was aquired digitally?
