I'm just starting editing my daughter's latest dance recitals, this time I'm going to edit in Media Composer 5 (software only). The main camera was recorded to 720p60 ProRes 422 and a secondary wide lockoff was recorded in AVCHD 1080i which I imported into FCP to rewrite into ProRes 422.
My media has been linked into MC via AMA.
I was thinking that since a) DVD is the "deliverable" and to b) reduce computer overhead it might make sense to convert everything to 720x486 near the beginning of the process.
Do you agree that's a good approach?
If so, would you use Compressor to do the downconvert, saving to ProRes then bring that ProRes QuickTime into MC for transcoding to, what, 1:1? Can I do 1:1 in software-only MC?
Thanks.
