Re: OT: Re: [Avid-L2] [FR] Keep On Top

Well, if it can save a marriage,
then we can tout that as a feature that no other NLE has! ;)

Mr. Benjamin,
When I edit projects with my wife she only allows me one bin.  She hates a bunch of extra bins so she keeps it down to just a few like "Interviews", "Broll", "Aquired", "Sills", "Effects" and maybe a "Recreations".  Maybe your bin wrangler could save our marriage when we co-edit a project.  I could make the claim that one of your bin wrangled "Super Bins" is really just one bin and I could add tons of tabs.  This could save a bundle in marriage consoling!!!  Oh but then we'd have to decide on a bin font, that could be a deal breaker.  ;-)

Hi Agustin,
Thanks for that snapshot from DS . . .
that's exactly what I'm talking about,
you were right.

The idea of the "Bin Wrangler" Windows is really like having multiple Super Bins (if you want one, or several),
except that you can designate which "Bin Wrangler Window" the bin(s) will open in.
It would allow easier opening of bins so they're not all over the screen.

You could also set a preference that single-clicking a bin would open it into
a specific "Bin Wrangler Window" when you single click on it in the Project Window.
This is really just "Super Bin" with the added ability to dictate which "Bin Wrangler Window"
the opening bin(s) would appear in.

Again, it's all really just adding features to what used to be called "Super Bin" and naming it
something that describes its functionality a bit better (IMHO).
"Super Bin" was a confusing term for many (new and long-time users alike).

Have a good night Agustin,

Benjamin

I'll be honest with you, I didn't understood the bin wrangler idea.
Maybe it's because of poor English.

Attached is a DS effect window, in blue Auto-Key on/off, in green lock window icon, with the same functionality you are asking.

Keep on top and Auto Keyframe toggle, were features that DS had.
The code already exists.... If Avid managed to port background render alla DS to MC, those two requests would be piece of cake ;)
+1 here

Huh, and I never used DS . . . look at that.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for those things,
and the "Bin Wrangler" idea that I shared earlier.
Thanks Agustin,

Benjamin

Yep, you guys again ;)

A "Keep on Top" toggle
for all windows, tools, and bins
would be fantastic:

See what happens when you get me started? ;)

Cheers!
