[Avid-L2] Re: Sequence goes offline when a bin of initial sequence is opened?

So now that I've delivered the show I had a chance to experiment more today. Once again I can repeat the behavior of opening my sequence and everything is online but then when I open the bin with the original sequence my sequence goes offline. Today I tried opening the original sequence bin first and then opening my main online sequence bin second. In this order of bin opening my main sequence stays online and the original sequence bin suddenly comes all online. My understanding is these types of behaviors fall in a category called MOB conflict IIRC from a Steve Bayes post many years ago. It seems the last bin to be opened gets to impart it's linkage knowledge on the other opened bins so when I was opening the original sequence bin 2nd it told everybody the media was on the original volume I had consolidated the clips from. Given that volume wasn't mounted everything went offline. Doing the opposite order of bin opening and my current sequence tells the original sequence bin to get it's media from my consolidated to volume.

I still don't understand why I couldn't just manually relink back to my consolidated media when things went offline but I didn't try to hard and given V 5.5.3.7 doesn't have the advanced relinking choices V6 does it isn't surprising I couldn't relink to media that had been transcoded ama but with no tape name added. Perhaps some of the allow ama relinking check boxes might have made a difference but I don't have the time to experiment right now.
