Tim,
First, pick a Mac - any Intel Mac.
Depending on what it is you can use a PCI capture card (AJA, BMD, Matrox (I think)) or use a stand-alone box (ultra studio or similar) to get the signal out of your NLE and then do the same on the input side of the ScopeBox rig. Install drivers for the gear you're using and away you go.
It's really no more complex than that.

Finally - I didn't realize their manual was online. Here are links to a few of my favorite features:

I forgot it offers an Alert feature (I haven't used it)
And the interface is 100% customizable with recallable presets
It also has recording functions - but I use it purely as a Scope.
