What CPU speed/count and GPU are "best" is not an easy question with a single answer - depends on the machine, the OS, the SW release, the operation(s) being done, codecs used, and so on.
In general Avid will:
- take advantage of multiple CPUs/cores when decoding media or other transformations (resizing, color space changes, etc.)
- will take advantage of the GPU for fx and other transforms on certain graphics cards
- Some encoding operations (such as inter frame) are inherently more single threaded, so they may benefit from a faster CPU over more cores.
