Me too. And I think the thing to remember is that at the end of the day, we still HAVE to edit. I do care about editing technology - tools can enable your creativity or throw obstacles in its path, but no matter what tools we use, we still have to tell a story and entice the viewer.
The other thing about tools is that for me the basics have to work well. The original FCP product was always forward looking and innovative in many ways, but none of those things ever made up for its lousy trim tools, its crippled render model, or the fact that match frame and sub clipping continued to suck for release after release.
That said, things like good metadata search can help us all, I believe. It's great to spend my time editing, rather than looking for things.
