[Avid-L2] Re: How Avid kills editors

 

Avid isn't killing editors... Short sighted profit maximizing, job consolidating corporations are doing that. Avid is simply surviving and giving their deep pocket (corporations) customers what they want. The producer/reporter/ shooter/window washer has already eliminated hundreds of shooter and editor jobs in broadcast news. Management had to downsize newsrooms to stay alive. 20 years ago stations and networks divided a 3 slice advertising pie. Now they must share a 600 channel market. You can't generate much profit with a 1/600th slice of that pie. The solution - gut costs. And it's not just editors. Look inside local and even some network newsrooms.
