Please excuse what may seem like an obvious question:

Are you having problems with a FRESH user setting, or did you try to port over a user setting from a previous version?

It's always been a no-no to move to a new version of MC while (or is it "whilst" for you Brits) retaining old user settings.

If you DID import old settings, definitely start from scratch and see what happens.
