That's why you buy cheap hard drives, and you buy them in pairs (or
triplets!). Amazing how when people do back up to optical disk or even
LTOs, they only make one. Hey, that's not a backup, that's your new
original.
Multiple redundancy is the smart move, and I'm hooked on hard drives
(soon to be SSDs). It's now wonderfully cheap, amazingly fast,
exquisitely flexible, and multiples mean massively reliable. (And
given the cheesy software in my experience, LTOs are none of those.)
