I guess I realize there is no one solution but I'm curious when confronted with a new to me file type that I can't import or ama into Avid what are the best apps to try first. Mpeg steamclip seems like a good choice but I figure there are others who deal with more random formats than I do and I'd like to know if they have a preferred order of apps to try. I'd also like to know if there is the "swiss army knife" of transcoding apps that I should have to be prepared.
