Exactly. Exactly f--king right. You should be a part of all the conversations we're having (the DP, Director and I) on the feature we're about to start shooting stereoscopically. We know that 3D likes deep focus. We know that shallow DOF tends to make the 3D look very cardboard cut-outy. But this sacrifice of one of the most proven and effective pieces of the cinema vocabulary is very painful. But off we go.

This is why not many people are using the DSLR's yet in stereo (besides the fact that you can't genlock them yet and shutter sync in problematic). The holy grail of shallow DOF is now non gratis when working in stereo. Brilliant.
