Re: [Avid-L2] What are you looking for at NAB this year?

I have a bunch of tiny feature requests, but my big wish is still for an NLE that doesn't force me to spend my edit day watching QT imports. To that I would now add one feature I've come to appreciate from FCP, which is its vastly more flexible project window. The FCP browser functions much more like a desktop, and no distinction is made between a folder and a bin. Lately, I've been forced to navigate huge, complex, work area projects that contain folders for many different editors. I'd love to be able to open up my folder as a separate window, instead of down arrowing all the time, which can really become a pain in the butt. Even creating a new bin, and then dragging it from the top level of the project down into my folder is difficult when there are this many folders clogging up the project window.

Just curious what people who are attending will be checking out this year?

Since Apple had such a lackluster release this last year, and they usually run
on a two year cycle, I expect to hear nothing from them.

Avid has been running about two releases with new features per year. So that
would set us up for another by NAB if not before like last year.

This turnaround in Avid and Apple has caused me to believe Avid may just be
around for a while longer as an editing company after all.

Unfortunately this means I need to buy Frank dinner. :-|
