[Avid-L2] audio interfaces/mixers/daw

Hi guys

Long time listener, first time caller. I'm getting a system set up at home for the first time, mac-based (mbp 17 and later an 8 core).

I'm looking at mixers/interfaces with powered faders that the system will see for automation gain, etc. Wondering what people are using besides the command 8/digi 002/3 options, as I'd like one device that would work both with MC/pro tools as well as apple software like garageband/logic/fcs.

Euphonix? (no i/o function?) Mackie? Yamaha? M-audio project mix? Any advice on pro/cons would be appreciated.
