It does and it doesn't. You can do faaaar more with the DS color tools, as
far as shapes and garbage mattes and all that.
But the biggest issue is that is does not have source clip based color as
we now it on Symphony, where you update one and it updates all while still
giving you the option to color the clip as a standalone.
DS technically has a 'clip based' and 'tape based' mode, but it is all or
nothing. You can't color a clip, then delete or change that effect without
affecting all the other clips.
Plus, you have to jump through a lot of hoops during conform to retain the
'master clip' for color since there is no 'decompose' function in DS
(despite having asked for it for 10 years). When I use to use it, I would
have to decompose a version in MC in order to batch digitize, then use a
non-decomposed version to creat the sequence. Hugh PITA.
But the control you have over your final images is exponentially larger in
DS.
