They already contacted me so I'm going to check out the exact number of the part for the battery pack. It's good to know that even at full voltage a cell can be faulty and not have the necessary current capacity. I knew that but there is an art and science side of this that helps to have other people's experience.
I'm surprised your line voltage dips enough to trigger the UPS into battery power mode to augment. Is the UPS just taking over on battery when line voltage is low or is it truly augmenting the line power to give it the extra voltage? I would think the latter would be problematic in how it would phase it's generated power to the line power. Perhaps that's easy to control the power inverter to generate in phase with line voltage but part of me thinks that would be more than the UPS was designed for.

John,I think I've already mentioned it, but if not, I've been using the Batteries + Bulbs franchise in Culver City for UPS batteries for a couple years. They give me a 'corporate customer' discount, and it's pretty significant. They also take the old batteries for recycling. My UPS batteries have been lasting 3-4 years and are always on. Now that I'm working from home I only have 3 units still in use - but the voltage here is pretty varied - so I often hear the UPS boosting or limiting.gh

I found the price of $16 per battery very low. I'm pretty sure I've paid something like $25 plus at Fry's for replacement batteries that weren't that good. When it comes to the car batteries they have a decent warranty until you actually try to use it and their warranty shops go out of their way to be out of stock of the model you need. They can't suggest just buying a new battery but they told me that it would be 2 to 3 days to get a warranty replacement battery. That happened at three of their warranty licensed shops but when I went back to my car mechanic who installed the battery originally they had a replacement within an hour. Still great to know where to go for UPS replacements at such a good price and thanks for the contact info off list.

Re: [Avid-L2] UPS Blues "Connect Battery Error?"
I've had the Interstate Batteries in our UPS' running for over 5 years now and still going strong.
