That is an excellent question.  It made me think about what BM is really good at.  They take over companies and acquire their technology and produce and distribute it at greatly reduced prices.  Isn't their backbone all the hardware cards etc...  The rest has been acquisitions of other companies and then marketing those products under the BM banner.  So I don't really know what BM is good at when it comes to Resolve but they clearly are investing in R&D to further and improve and expand that product.  It does seem challenging to back a product into editing as opposed to adding color correction to an existing editing platform.

You know like how Avid realized what a stronghold it would have on the main stream TV production market if they just improved the already embedded symphony color correction.  Remember when they were floundering around losing market share etc...  OH WAIT!!!  I just was having some sort of Acid flash back future only in John's head moment.  Let's hope Resolve/BM is better at adding an editor to a color corrector than Avid has been it improving a color corrector in an editor.

That's interesting because with my students, graduate kids in branding and marketing, Resolve is totally off the radar, as it should be for them.  We cut in X, color in X and effects in Motion or AE.  Premiere is a distant second, with Media Composer and Resolve not in the conversation.  How things change.

Here's another question:  Is BMD making a mistake putting time and effort into an edit system that joins an already crowded market?  Should they stop at being a finishing solution (which I have done on several X to Resolve gigs)?  Or just offer a great color correction system?  I wonder about the wisdom of losing focus on what you are really good at.
