Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Does and Avid or any DPX sequence handle audio?

Rupert,
Should that not be RF64, as you easilly go over the 4 gig limit with 8 channels of 24 bits sound...
(Or does Clipster (NO clue what it is...) support mono wave?)

Terry, the smpte spec does, in fact, allow a MB of audio in the header IIRC. Only ever seen it used once, though.

On the whole dpx sequences are mute. You can use pretty much any standard audio file to carry the sound. I would use BWAV as they have timecode and you can use that to synch 'em up in the Clipster.

Umm, John... DPX are stills. How exactly would you add audio to a sequence of stills?

As I'm testing the dpx file export on Avid 8.5.2 I'm setting to RGB 10bit keep levels as legal.  Netflix want BT.709 files.  I also checked use selected tracks and I've selected Video and audio 8 channels.  The resulting file when I link ama to the dpx sequence is video only.  I tried a dpx export with only the audio channels selected but I get a prompt that the export format requires video on every frame or some such prompt.  So is dpx an audio less format?  I guess even though Avid has a check box for use marks and one for selected tracks it's probably referring to the video tracks.

What is the standard for including audio for a dpx sequence?
