RE: [Avid-L2] Re: Does and Avid or any DPX sequence handle audio?

Not trying to reinvent the wheel but I had been saying all along that I would deliver a DNxHRHQX .mov with 8 channels of audio to the facility that will then make the actual delivery file in IMF format.  The specs I have list specs for the actual IMF but the format delivered to the facility that is making the IMF doesn't get mentioned.  This is where I find conflicting reports that seem to be centered around nobody wanting to install the Avid Codecs on their system.

Nowhere in the IMF section of the version OC-2-5 Full Tech Specs document I have is there a mention of the "mezzanine format" used to get the sequence to the IMF facility.  I see no mention of .dpx anywhere only IMF Application 2 extended file.  The dpx wheel I'm working with is strictly because I'm being told that is what the IMF facility wants while at the same time the QC facility will only accept a prores file.  So right away I have to make to differing formats which is crazy in my book.  I'm looking at Section 2 Source Material Requirements.

If this was HD then it's clear and I would be delivering a ProResHQ like I have in the past.

John,

You said this is for Netflix, yes? Why are you trying to reinvent the wheel? Here are the delivery requirements.
