[Avid-L2] Re: Does and Avid or any DPX sequence handle audio?

I'm assuming it's because the final dpx file is so unwieldy that they QC for pixel hits and other typical QC issues on a file more conducive to playback and transfering.  Think 600GB vs. 5TB of data.  They are well aware that another round of the final IMF file will happen but at that stage I guess it makes more sense to have all the everyday QC issues addressed and they then only make fixes to the IMF if there are really glaring errors.  I assume they have adopted this workflow out of practical necessity that they have learned from experience.

What is erking me is that the QC facility won't load the Avid Codecs to do a QC of that file.

What is the point of making a different format file for QC?
The QC should be on the delivery file.
At worst you'd QC an intermediate file but then you still have to QC the final file.
If the facility doesn't understand that then I'd find one that does.
