Re: [Avid-L2] Sync clips - can they take audio file name instead?

On every single shoot that I get from every production company, video clips are labeled by camera (A, B, C, etc.), reel, and arbitrary number. So for example, Alexa shoots file names show up as something like A001C012 etc. etc.

This never changes. Do you get files with scene/take numbers in the file name?

The audio files almost always come with scene/take numbers in the file name and metadata. When you import them into MC, they often show up with this information in the clip name, such as 201/01.

I want to use the audio clip name as the sync clip name. Right now, the sync clip is always named for the video file clip name, so it looks like this: A001C012.sync.new.01 and the like. I want it to be 201/01.sync.new.01 instead.

With your shoots, can you make this happen without copying and pasting?

When prepping shoot footage with sync audio, I use AutoSync all the time, but I find myself always having to copy the clip name of the audio file and paste it into the name of the sync clip. The camera clip name is generally vague, while the audio file name often has exactly what I'm looking for (scene/take number). Is there a way (that I am missing) that will allow me to choose this to happen automatically? Or am I stuck in copy/paste mode forever?

If so, it should be a feature, and I'll request it as long as I'm not already missing this.
