Saw this question on Reddit, and I did some testing, and I have promising results. Anyone else?
Question: How can I make Avid DNxHR outside of Avid?
Aside from Resolve (or Avid DMF), you can download the March 2015 Avid CODEC pack. It has DNxHR included. I was able to fire up Adobe Media encoder and create a custom preset using DNxHR (MOV). Obviously set the frame size, make it progressive, etc...but it seemed to work fine. Unsure how reliable it is...and the Avid MXF wrapper is a whole 'nother issue, so either fast import, or AMA and consolidate.
Episode 6.5 crashed for me, and Compressor 4.1.3 is limiting. Maybe Sorenson can do it since it can also do proper Avid MXF wrapping (Pro version)?
