Upon further reflection, this isn't such a bad solution if one can reconcile the necessity of activating the software on a daily basis (in order to maintain license flexibility). And considering Media Composer is principally an editing platform, there's a very good chance the plugin would not be used on a daily basis anyway (unless, of course, you are the online/colorist). The free version really makes this scenario quite a bit more compelling.
