Well for all you QT7 experts out there, what could cause QT7 to not open. I've reinstalled three times. It won't open a movie using any method. When I double click the icon it just crashes. The result of this is…..I can't export anything from Avid. Because as soon as I select export, i have to go to settings and the whole system spins and stops responding. Tried with various user settings. MC opens fine. Reinstalled. Up to date v .3.1.xx. The other odd result is MPEG Streamclip, a usual tank in the software world, won't allow an mp4 to play and won't accept any QTs for compression. I can open the app, but not do anything with it. So I am lost without a working QT. Not sure how to proceed. Is there even an apple support route for this?Lou

Gets worse. Opened composer and now I can't export any sequences. When the Export as window comes up, when i click options it just spins forever, have to force quit. WTF!I reinstalled Avid codecs as well. So essentially, any movies with Avid codec crash QT. Streamclip suddenly won't work at all under any circumstances, and I can open MC but not export any sequences.LouI went to other movies than the ones I started with today, and I can open animation codec and apple pro res but not any avid codec movies. And stream clip won't open anything. But MC still works.

I changed the behavior on my macs to open .movs from the default of QT X to QT 7. This is crazy now. I went to the link and reinstalled QT7. repaired permissions, reboot. It boots up with QT7 open. So I check and it has the reg number. I try and open a movie and it quits. No movies will open. Its way more serious than I thought. If a simple reinstall can't help. Going into standard disk repair mode now but if any other ideas come along, let me know. Im on 10.8.5. I do have the Mavericks installer here so maybe I should try that. Its so weird that it came out of nowhere. No new installs.Lou

IIRC I installed FCS before installing legacy QT 7 and when I installed QT 7 it already knew to be the Pro version with exports. What has happened over the weekend to completely turn the export process into a nightmare? Now having to make a export from Avid to small viewing movie so that should take about 10 hours.
