For what it's worth, here's Apple's list of minimum supported builds on each of their computers:
...though it looks like this document hasn't been updated to include the newest iMacs, etc.
This is pretty handy information if you deploy standardized disc images. We ran into trouble with some of the newer 27" iMacs last year because they required a slightly newer build of 10.9 (note that the OS point versions appeared identical... it was the specific build ID that changed.)
Anyway, the hardware-specific build changes are rolled into each successive OS update so these discrepancies typically don't last more than a few months.
