I never upgrade a mac os until the third update. Usually longer as I wait for Autodesk to support it which is generally just before the next one comes out.

Apple rewrote the whole permissions process and disabled super users. You no longer have access to permission repair tools. This sucks when your apps like office  start bombing.

Within a week of installing el crap on my new iMac 5K, crashes started and my iOS permissions were completely corrupted.  I could not open any Apple app; contacts, calendar, messages, Etc.

Yosemite have been humming along nicely.

Wait a while, they're doing you a favor.
