Now that I've started using AME to add pulldown I was hoping it would work in this situation but the level shift is a no go. What I found was if I export an XDCAM OP1a file with 8 tracks out of Avid then use AME to add the pulldown there is no level shifts. I agree probably just as easy to do a mixdown like you say. It would have been great if I could have just used the existing .mov files I had already made as part of the deliverables and have AME convert those to XDCAM 50 but as I said the level shift is bad. HMMMMMM
My limited XDCAM exporting experience is in sync with your statement about 8 tracks of audio but the delivery specs from this distributor request an MXF Wrapper XDCAM 422 50 Mbps 29.97i with 10 tracks of audio. Fortunately in our case two of the tracks are called "Described Video Left and Described Video Right" and we don't have those anyways so the 8 tracks are all we need. So I guess the question is given their delivery specs request 10 tracks of audio they aren't really requesting a true XDCAM 50 file like from an XDCAM camera disc. I found that AME will allow more than 8 tracks in their settings e.g. 10, 14 or 16. Given XDCAM is a the codec and mxf is the wrapper I guess it is technically incorrect to refer to an mxf XDCAM file with 10 tracks of audio as XDCAM OP1a or is it? Avid won't export 10 tracks to the format but AME will. What is the proper terminology to use here?
