Hi all,
I recently exported a show for an internal screening. We're working in FCP 7, editing in ProRes 422. To save time making this export, I imported a previous export (same specs, 1920x1080 ProRes 422 23.976), stitched in a few new sections, and then exported.
People at the screening complained about visual artifacts and I wondered if my import/export method introduced them.
Would my method result in any quality loss? I didn't add any color corrections or effects to the "old export" sections of the film. I've never been clear about whether this kind of straight import-export method results in quality loss (even if minor), since it is a "lossy" codec.
I know this is FCP-related but people on this forum are so knowledgeable about codecs, etc, that I thought I'd post it here. Thanks in advance.
Best
Mike
