I should point out the obvious...It's not really necessary to do more than change your raster size to HD to create titles in a 2k or higher project to use the title tool, but if transporting the project elsewhere, it's a good plan to create the title exports.
The exported titles are also handy when migrating a project to a different frame rate.

You can create titles in an HD or SD project using the existing Title tool, then export them (File Menu>export, with Title Tool active). You get a file with an alpha (Mac Makes a Pict file, don't recall if that is the format used on PC MC). The project size determines the raster size of the file.
You can now import that created title as a matte key in any raster sized project, and choose in the import settings wether or not to resize it to the current raster.
This trick of creating exports of titles is how I get exact matches of titles between Mac and PC. Even with the same fonts and other settings, the Mac version and PC version of Title Tool generated titles never match excatly. If you export a PICT (which includes the alpha) you get an exact match between platforms.

Avid stopped supporting Title tool a while ago. It doesn't work beyond HD. We are all supposed to be using the New Blue Titler. :-(
