Re: [Avid-L2] Premiere Pro EDL to Avid options?

I see no source list at the bottom of the EDL.  IIRC that list appeared when EDL manager made an EDL from an Avid sequence.  This EDL is straight from Adobe.  I will email you the .edl offlist and you can see for yourself what it is and what might be missing.  At least by including the clip names in the comments and can tell which reel it should be.  Sometimes even those are different from the actual tape name in the EDL.  The clip comment name for the most part appears to be correct.  Some of the tape name differences are due to the truncation but sometimes it's a completely different camera, Cam A vs. Cam D for example.  I haven't had a chance to open the premiere project yet to see if there is some human error in adding wrong reel numbers/tape names in the premiere project.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Premiere Pro EDL to Avid options?

I have taken and EDL export from Premiere Pro CC 2015 into Avid EDL manager.  One of the problems is that Premiere Pro seems to truncate the Reel Number/Tape Name to 8 characters.  I believe this is a hold over of the CMX 3600 limitation.  The EDL I made has the truncation from the middle of the Reel Number leaving the first 4 characters and the last 4 characters.  I'd rather have it truncate the end characters, which is an option in EDL manager.  Given the EDL viewed in Text Edit right out of Premiere Pro only has those 8 characters for Reel numbers I don't know if this can be resolved.  I can't get on to the Premiere Pro system right now but I'm curious is there any option in EDL export in Premiere to choose a newer edl template like CMX Transfer or some of the others listed as 16 or 32 that I believe will support more characters in the Reel number/Tape name?
After getting the edl into Avid I found that I would get the exception:  PMM_INSUFFICIENT _MEDIA  error message.  I found one offending clip and that error went away.
