At work I have a Suped UP MacPro that was modified to 12 core from it's humble beginning as a 2010 MacPro . It sports 2 x 3.33GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon CPUs and 24 GB or DDR3 1333MHz ram. They added a 4 port USB3 card in slot 3 and it seems to be working fine. Today I was copying from an internal raid to an external USB3 drive a .mov file approx 80GB. As that was copying I plugged in a second external USB3 drive which popped up on the desktop. I dragged the same file I was already copying onto the new drive and it appeared as a 2nd copy window in the finder. What is strange is it sat idle until the first file finished copying. I would have expected it to start copying right away given it was copying to a different drive. I'd never seen that sequential copy behavior beforw. I figured they would both go and the first one might slow down it's transfer rate due to the second copy. I was copying from an internal 2 disk stripped raid.
Is this normal behavior? If it is I'm surprised I'd never seen this before.
