[Avid-L2] Why is Avid 8.3.1 creating and .export 01 sequence when exporting a QT Ref file?

I export QT reference files all the time set to use selected tracks and in and out marks.  I don't usually end up with a new version of the sequence in the sequence bin with the suffix .export 01.  I get them when I export .aafs for pro tools but not when I do a QT Ref.  I've recently switched to Ver 8.3.1 and I've done 4 episodes of a series and I don't recall seeing this behavior.  Now on episode 5 when I export a QT reference file a new sequence is created with .export 01 or something like that in the sequence bin.  Is there a preference for this?  I don't see a master export setting and the export box for QT ref doesn't show a check box like create new sequence.

Has something changed here or am I just being crazy?  When I export an XDCam OP1A file of the same same sequence I don't end up with a new sequence in the bin.  What am I missing here?
