I posted a week or so ago about seeing some sketchy behavior on background renders. Today I found something repeatable and perhaps related. I put a safe color limit over my sequence and render that. I then went back and made changes which created partial unrendered sections of the previously completely rendered safe color effect. When I then render in to out in the background Avid recognizes the two unrendered effect each of which have multiple partial unrendered sections. The background render completes rendering only one of the partial unrendered sections on each effect. If I repeat another background render again only one of the partial render sections for each effect is done.
It appears that the background render in to out sees the main effect as needing to be rendered but then only flags one of the partial unrendered sections for render. After repeating the process 6 times which was the number of unrendered partial sections the effect was finally fully rendered. This behavior might have been what was confusing me a week ago but that was slightly different when I aborted in the middle of a background render.
A normal render in to out does not miss multiple unrendered sections of a single effect in my experience so something different is happening with background renders. These bkgnd renders don't seem to handle multiple partial sections of an effect correctly.
