Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Annoying bug? shrinking bins?

It's been that way for several versions on Mac (although better than it was). I always set up some bins and create a new Bin Layout so I can bring them back quickly. Usually hits me when I drag in some clips from the Media Tool.

Am I battling some aspect of this issue on my MacPro 10.8.5 with 8.3.1.  I just posted about bins not staying where I put them and shrinking and going up left.  This is after 3 days running 8.3.1 without seeing this issue.  Going back to the project I've not seen the issue on the last 3 days and now new bins in it are doing this whacky shrinking and going up left when reopened Reinstalled 8.3.1 no change.  New User no change.  WTF?

That's a good suggestion. I hadn't tried that. I usually use that when I've lost my timeline.

I just discovered that it's only happening when the bin contains the master clip itself. If I drag it into another bin - like a "subclips" bin - then it's fine.

I have something similar happen occasionally, but not related to making subclips, and it most commonly affects my timeline.  I find the Window/Home shortcut (apple-') usually puts it back where it ought to be, properly sized.  Worth a try?

I haven't seen this (8.3.0, 8.3.1 on Mac OS 10.8.5). However, I wonder what would happen if instead of dragging into the bin, you assign "Make Subclip" to a keyboard entry and do it that way? All that clicking and dragging is annoying anyway, why not give it a try?

I'm on a Mac running Yosemite and MC 8.3.0.

Everytime I drag a subclass from the source window to the bin, the bin shrinks to a little square and moves so that the bin title and red yellow and green resizing buttons disappear up under the main OS menu bar, making it impossible to close normally. Obviously the work around is to select the bin in the project window and close the selected bin or use the Command-W shortcut. When it reopens, it reopens into the correct size and position. But every subclip subsequently resizes and moves the bin into an impossible-to-use location. But that means closing and reopening the bin every time.

BTW, I did follow my own advice and checked this behavior with a fresh default user setting. I get the same thing.

Anyone else seeing this? Marianna, will probably say "JUST UPGRADE. THERE'RE SO MANY GREAT FIXES!" Thanks… I may just have to do that. :-) I'm only a .1 release behind.
