Traditionally I remember it helped to have FCP installed on an Avid computer because it would install ProRes codecs that could then be used to export to ProRes from Avid. We have two stations of Avid on Mac Pros. I'm version 6.0.5 and have QT7 Pro installed. The identical computer running SNDX 6.0.3 does not have QT Pro installed and there is no choice to export to ProRes. I'm thinking the missing link is QT Pro. I'm fuzzy but I assume QT Pro will install all the advanced ProRes codecs Avid needs to export to ProRes. I know installing FCP 7 etc... would automatically install or upgrade QT 7 to QT Pro. Am I remembering this correctly?
There is a fundamental difference to Avid's ability to natively handle ProRes in Avid and Avid's ability to export to ProRes right?
