Re: [Avid-L2] Upgrading Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 for Avid etc...?

Well they've taken the Windows 7 off the web unless you have a genuine key.  You can download the isos from here though:

On a small note book with Windows 7 Starter I was able to upgrade to Windows 7 professional using the Windows Anytime Upgrade in the Start menu.  My older Vista Home Premium doesn't seem to offer the same functionality.  I did search it for anytime upgrade but keep getting in this endless loop of running the Windows 7 compatibility program which says I can upgrade to Windows 7 business or Windows 7 Ultimate.  Then when I follow the links to the supposed download page there is a top banner that gets superimposed over the top links which seem to be the ones I need.  This is happening on Firefox so I tried the same url on explorer and it errors out without displaying the page.  WTF?  Why is this so difficult?  Has Microsoft adopted a policy similar to Apple in that it is hard to get previous versions of the OS.  I keep landing on Windows 8 downloads but that's not what I want.  Do I have to buy an old Windows 7 kit that has a dvd disk.  Will that allow me to upgrade instead of clean install?  This lap top doesn't get much use but I'm seeing some need for Windows 7 to get my Sony monitor white balance software to work.  Hoping this upgrade will solve some monitor over ethernet connection issues.  It didn't on the little notebook but maybe the lap top.
