Subject: [Avid-L2] Sony PVM-2541 Auto White Balance Software monitor connection?

I've been checking with Greg H. and Terry C. off list about getting the Sony White Balance software to work with the X-rite 1 probe.  I can get the software to recognize and calibrate the probe but I can't get the software to connect via ethernet over my lan or a direct connection as peer to peer.  I have tried straight ethernet cables and crossover cables for the direct peer to peer connection but no go.  In fact the V1200 software I downloaded from Sony  has a radio button for LAN or Peer to Peer but the Peer to Peer choice is greyed out.  This happens on my note book with Windows 7 professional and my laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.  So the software is stuck in LAN mode.  I have set a manual ip address of 192.168.000.110 which should be unique on my home lan and the Sony Monitor and the computers running the Sony software are all connected to the same gigE switch which is also connected to my main switch which is hooked to an Apple Airport Extreme.  As per the instructions I set the Monitor to Parallel Remote off, Serial Remote=Ethernet, Monitor to subnet 255.255.255.000, and ip address as previously mention.

In the Sony software there is a select network adapter which is only one choice and I say OK.  Then the Monitor List shows nothing.  I can search by monitor ID number which is 1, the only Sony monitor on the network but still nothing.  There is also a provision to enter the monitor ip address but this is also inoperative.  I can click inside the field and the cursor will blink but I can't type in any numbers from the laptop number pad or the numbers above the regular keyboard, it's kinda like the fact that I can't select Peer to Peer.  I have tried setting the Sony monitor to LAN and Peer to Peer but still no go.  There is also a default gateway address setting which can be turned on and off.  When on you set a gateway address but I don't really know what that is for.

On the same network I can access my Tek wfm 7020 and I noticed it has a gateway address of 10.001.000.001 which I tried to enter into the Sony monitor just for kicks but the on the Sony the second set of 3 numbers will only go to 001 not 000.  The closest I can set the default gateway address is 10.001.000.001 and that still doesn't work.  I'm beginning to think this version of the Sony software might have a bug in it.  Terry said he was running an earlier version, which says it's compatible with Windows Vista but the one I downloaded only mentions Windows 7 business and Ultimate IIRC.  Anybody successfully running the Sony Monitor White Balance software V1200 successfully?  What am I missing here?
