This IS the Avid L2: Re: [Avid-L2] Replacement Studio Monitors for Home Studio. Suggestions Needed.

I like the higher-end KRK monitors, but I'm not a big fan of their Rokit. As you say, bass heavy heading towards muddy.

Can you get to a big music or audio store and give some options a listen?

I do have the M-Audio speakers at home although when I bought them it was months before I set up my bay and I found one to be defective. That's when I found out the hard way Avid sold M-Audio. I had to send the pair in as it had been too long for Guitar Center to just swap them. The turnaround was maybe a week but they've been fine ever since.
