With XDCAM and XDCAM EX devices you need to install specific Sony driver(s) to see all the content of the card or disc at the OS level (Explorer or Finder). If you don't, your OS will only see partial thus create an incomplete copy.
*Usually* you need to install the device driver first then the SxS UDF driver.http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-recmedia/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-mkt-recmedia-downloads-upgrades.shtml

Inside the clips folder I am seeing mp4's.Dom - who deserves many thanks for his generosity to the list in too many circumstances to mention - mentioned the possibility of an issue with the SxS driver when copying the files, an idea I was surprised by. I used an adapter on my MBP laptop that wasn't mine (though I think I've transferred SxS cards in the past). The card showed up fine in the finder. Is it really the case that even though the card and its contents are displayed in the finder, if you copy the card some of its contents will be left off? (Unfortunately I don't have the card to try it again.)In the end, I transcoded with Sony Catalyst Browser to ProRes (which seems quite fast btw.) I may just leave this as a mystery...On Mon, Mar 23, 2015, at 04:45 AM, 'Bouke ( Edit'B)' bouke@editb.nl [Avid-L2] wrote:
Had the same experience, but on win. Latest sony ama plugin must be selected (or, select mxf instead of all)

If the files are .mxf from the camera you might have to manually select the ama plugin choice to mxf instead of auto detect. I don't recall if that applies to EX 3 footage but it's worth a shot. Also sometimes file path will impede ama linking. If possible put the contents on the desktop and try to ama from there. Just guessing out loud but worth a shot.

Hi All,
I had a quick shoot over the weekend with a Sony Ex3. Card was copied
intact.
The files generated don't want to AMA into the two different Mac Avids
7.0.4 Avids I tried them on.
I downloaded and installed the latest Sony AMA plugin on both. The
Read Me says it supports Ex3 and MC 7.0.4.
I can open the files in the Sony Catalyst Browser (which btw does
support batch transcoding - the trick is to select the material in
Browse which allows for multiple file selection and not View which only
allows for one file at a time.) The files are apparently fine.
I can transcode them to ProRes in Catalyst and be done with it but I was
curious if anyone else was having problems.
Thanks,
Dan
