Re: [Avid-L2] Remain pitch in slow-motion - is it possible?

Complete 100% agreement. (or 100% + 4% if you will)

By the way, 27 to 24 is not a small change. Plus: all of these keep-the-pitch solutions will cause degraded sound quality. The more complex the source material, the worse it will sound. For example, treating a full 5.1 mix containing dialogue, effects and music is likely to sound pretty awful. Just a few lines of dialogue less so.
Sound editors have shown me that the process is best done in two steps: slowdown first, then pitch correct in a second run. Doing it in one go is certainly possible with TimeShift or Pitch 'n' Time, but it will sound much better if you do it in two passes. Don't know why or what causes it, but when I heard the difference between a 1-step approach and a 2-step approach, I was flabbergasted.

European sound studios have to deal with 24-25 conversions all the time. A lot of them won't pitch correct full mixes because of the quality degradation. Others have very elaborate processes in which they use different plugins and different settings to treat dialogue stems, fx stems and music stems. A secret sauce if you will.

Is it possible to remain pitch in the audio if it is stretched just a little bit - some kind of plugin within Avid (Avid 8.3) - which will be transferred to Protools as well?
