I've been asking for years for them to add the ability to have relational color correction based on a custom column. As it is I still use src clip name and I add suffixes to break up clip names that cover multiple setups. I agree with file based clips the naming conventions do not liken themselves to src clip name like they use to. Yesterday I duplicated the tape name column to the name column after they had added tape names to Alexa footage. It was a simple show so it worked well and then I added suffixes to the clip name to break up different setup from the same tape named clips. Had they not added tape names I might have tried the source file name column but I think usually the source file names are unique to each clip so it doesn't really help for color correction like the traditional clip and tape names have in the past. Hence if I could create or use an existing comments column and then base color correction on that I could add alpha numeric text into the column based on clip content which can be relatively quick when viewing clips in script view.
