Re: [Avid-L2] Re: XAVC with MC 7/8

You can change pretty much anything and it will still relink.  We do this by simply remounting the volumes into the bin with all of your clips.  If you need Tape names, they will disappear when you remount the volumes, but clip names should persist.  You can use the Sony Content Browser to add Description metadata to your clips which will show up in Avid under the Description bin column.

We transcode because there isn't enough space on our Isis to facilitate the source media.  When linking a full hour-long sequence to the original AMA media, the performance definitely drops.  Would not recommend using the raw media unless you have fast storage/systems.

If we AMA the XAVC into MC and transcode to DNxHD 36 and the editor adds a tape name in Avid and possibly changes the clip name, will MC be able to relink back to the original XAVC AMA clips later so as to be able to transcode to a higher resolution?  What information in the transcoded clips can be changed and what can't if we are relinking back later?
