Re: [Avid-L2] Avid MC with MBA

I wish I had your luck, Benjamin. I have the same 17" as you except with the solid state drive. I also max'd out the RAM to 16 GB, but I never got the performance back running MC 7.x. There's just something about it that's a real processor hog. At least for me.

That said, I really don't want to give up my 17" because it's got the express card slot and I use it a lot to hook up to both eSATA drives and the PCIe adaptor to the Mojo or Nitris. I hate that Apple discontinued the 17". Makes me nuts. But I also really want more processor power. So I don't know what to do.

Oliver,
When I upgraded to MC v7, I had to bump-up to 16GB RAM in order to be able to have MC and Photoshop running at the same time without issues with one or the other -- And I tried not running the MC background services, too, but that was no help. Once I got the 16GB installed my performance was back to what I had had with MC v6.x.

My specs, so you can compare to your MBA (see attached pic):

Hope that helps!

Anyone using a top-of-the-line MacBook Air for cutting with Media Composer? How's the performance with basic HD storytelling and minimum effects? Also with the Adobe apps?
