I'd do a VideoSpec comparison between the file on your desktop that works and the one on the drive that doesn't. That might shed some light on seeing what's different.

I'm thinking something happened either during the QC or when the post coordinator opened the file on his Mavericks computer. My edit system is still 10.6.8. I asked and he said he didn't do any conversion when opening the file to view it. He had done that with other files but not this one. The file is Prores HQ so I don't even know if mavericks would need to do any conversion to it. Is it possible just opening the file on mavericks somehow rewrapped the .mov in a way that would no longer allow QT change to add time code. The fact that the file defaulted to opening in QT X when my system was set to QT 7 for other .movs makes me think something like this happened. Can anyone shed some light on what might have happened. The problem file does playback it just won't let me add time code.
