Fraps used to convert for output. Fraps website suggests using Windows Movie Maker to covert to WMV, which could them be converted on Mac with Flip4Mac or Squeeze. The Fraps codec should be available to any compressor on PC. I would probably use TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works or Squeeze in Windows to convert to common format.
I'm doing a sizzle reel for a video game maker. They are creating Fraps files which will need to be converted to something I can bring into Media Composer. Fraps is a PC-only file format (though they can be played on a Mac in NicePlayer with Perian installed) and the only conversion apps I have found have limited flexibility regarding codex. However, the game maker is willing to convert the files. So, my questions are:
Thanks,
- Is there a Mac-based compressor that could convert the Fraps files to DNxHD files and, if not,
- …is there a PC-based compressor that could do this and, if not,
- …what would be the best file format for the game maker to convert to for me to subsequently AMA and transcode?
